Putting Off

So if you were wondering about the Draw My Life, my camera died and my "startup disc is full".  I should know by now that video projects never get done haha :)

Anyway, I've been putting off blogging here because of a few reasons.  One, I really don't have much to say.  All we've been doing is wrapping up school.  I am finishing my Latin project though, which I have to wrap up today.  When I'm done I'll take some pictures (and I figured out the family tree, Granna!).

The other reason is that somewhere in my mind, I think that if I don't post here, the end of May won't come and I won't have to leave this blog.

But alas, it's already halfway through and I only have two more weeks left of school.  Then things will start up at the new blog (which currently is called Freshman's Desk but will probably change).  I'm also trying to think of a URL, which is proving to be a challenge.

Unfortunately, (and I cannot believe I am saying this) the end of school is coming a bit too fast for my liking.  Not that I'm dreading summer--definitely not!  But after that is high school, and even though that's exciting, it's also rather terrifying.  However, I have the assurance that the student store sells really good cookies and muffins, and that it's "actually really fun".  So it seems as though everything will be okay.

I'm working on a blogging schedule for my new blog, seeing as I'll have to balance it with schoolwork and--hopefully--a social life, as well as a few other things (theme design and such).  But June 1 will be my first post on *new blog* and hopefully you'll see at least one post per week there.

Until next time (and there will be a next time on this blog, still),

Happy Homeschooling!

The Mark of Athena

“Wisdom’s daughter walks alone,
The Mark of Athena burns through Rome.
Twins snuff out the angel's breath,
Who holds the key to endless death.
Giants' bane stands gold and pale,
Won through pain from a woven jail.'
Oh yeah, that's right, I got the Mark of Athena yesterday!!  MoA is the newest book in the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan, which is basically the sequel series to his Percy Jackson books.
And oh my word it was sooo good!!!  (Oh right, I finished it too...hehe)  I won't give out any spoilers yet, because I had to avoid looking up any Percy Jackson stuff from the release date until I got it (2 days of an honest minefield, I swear) and it's horrible to try to look places without being able to have spoilers.  If you want spoilers or have already read the book, just comment or email me or something and I'll do a whole post with everything :D
It's so hard to not say anything right now, but my friends held out for me--thank you!!--and I won't right now.  But just had to put out there that I read it and it is AMAZING, even if it ends on a "Rickhanger" which is a term I learned last night for Mr. Riordan's infamous cliffhangers haha!

Scrambled

Hello there friends!  So, this week has been kinda crazy.  Ok, really crazy.  It started on Monday...

When we had our Latin poster presentation.  Which went well, by the way :)  It was a fun project!  That day, we got to watch this video after class because, well, it's funny!  And Miss Weight is awesome! <3

Isn't this just the cutest thing?!

Then on Tuesday it was school as usual.  My eyes were kinda bugging me but my contacts were getting kinda old, no biggie.  However, towards the end of the day it was so bad I had to put my glasses on instead.  Before dinner?  Something is wrong.

On Wednesday I woke up and had a hard time opening my eyes.  Yeah, um that would be because they were pretty much swollen shut.  When I got to the bathroom to look at what was wrong, well--it was pretty obvious I had pinkeye.  (Lovely, I know.)
So basically I felt so crummy overall that day that I got to sit on the couch and read.  I also watched this.  Watch if you are a HP fan and in need of a laugh!!

Thursday turned up eventually and since the disease was still highly contagious it was an official NO LATIN day :(  Which stinks even more because Miss W said it was going to be a fun lesson!!  Ah well, some schoolwork got done but not much, I still felt pretty bad.

Friday I felt much better!  Yay!  That's about the most exciting thing that happened.  Oh, and One Direction (remember them?! haha) had a new song out, which I must have played a million times while I was working on schoolwork.  Here, take a listen:

It's love, right here.  Love it.  Great song.  Makes me dance!

As for today...much much better!!  I am condemned to wearing glasses till next Wednesday though, which would be ok except my prescription is a little old and fuzzy.  My  glasses must make their appearance in Latin class on Monday.  Prepare yourselves.

Well, that will be all for this week.  Hopefully you all are having a good time this school year!!  (And for my readers who are related to me, hope you're having a good time in general--love you!)

Busy Busy Busy

So, hello again!  I am really sorry for the lack of posting going on here!!  This has been a pretty busy month so far, and blogging has been the last thing on my mind.  Just so you guys know, I will most likely not be posting for the next two weeks, because I am going to be working in the pre-school class at my church's VBS!  I am super super excited for that.  If I can get some pictures of our classroom maybe I can post them, but not of the kids because, you know, the parents might not want them all over my blog :)  Sorry again for not posting, and sorry that I won't be too soon!  But once school starts--August 22--I will have much more to post about EIGHTH GRADE!!!!!  Haha that's pretty cool that I'm almost to High School.  Anyways, gotta run!

STARs

Oh...STAR testing.  Luckily it's finally over!  My friend and I were talking about how at our old school, we did SATs and at least Stanford Achievement Tests sounds more distinguished and educational and more like we're going to college someday.  STAR sounds a bit like "No matter what, you're a STAR!"  Oh my word, really?

Anyways, 7th graders have an English and a Math STAR.  In 8th you have to take Science and History too, but when you're in 7th you only have two!  English was fine, finished early, it was easy, all that jazz.  Then I found out that I was not taking the Seventh Grade Math test.

I was taking Algebra I.

Now, I've been taking an algebra course but I'm far from over with it (and there's only a month or so left of school!).  That's why Algebra is on our master agreement for next year too.  But Mom thought I was taking Math 7, so the day before the test we found out that they had put me down for Algebra I!!  Oh joy.

I managed to get all the bubbles filled in two and a half hours though, so it was OK.  And now it's over.

And so is my rant about STARs.

Happy Homeschooling! :)

Earache, Tired, and Busy Oh My!

Oh man, what I am doing up at 7:40 am I have no idea.

No, wait...I do...

It's because I forgot to turn off my alarm last night when I was up at 1am.  And 2am.  And 3. How does that slip my mind, really?!

Probably because I woke up around 1 because my ear was plugged and something, surely, had gotten into my ear and was slowly ripping the insides apart.  And even though I'm totally old enough to just go back to bed for goodness sake, there was a good chance in my opinion that that hideous tiny monster was ripping my eardrum apart.  So I went and got my mom.

Nah, don't worry--I wasn't afraid of tiny monsters in my ear.  I was afraid of an ear infection.  My dad had one last year, and it was the most pain we've ever seen him in (and that's saying something).  Unfortunately, at one in the morning, I had forgotten that he hadn't had a normal ear infection.  No...a weird little organism had worked its way into his ear since he had been in the water.

That brings me back to my little monster again.  Huh.  But this was no monster, of course.  So after literally an hour and 45 minutes of no change even after putting heat on it for that long, Mom looked at the doctor's website and said that it would go away on it's own, and then I had to take an extra-strength Tylenol and finally fell asleep around 3.

Certainly it makes sense that I'm tired.  Today it's much better, only a little plugged.  Plugged I can handle.  My pain tolerance level=zero.  Of course, tired I will be because if it was up to me I would be asleep right now but we have a busy, busy day (school, running errands, going to Latin, stopping by a friend's house tonight).  Gotta get up and moving!

Ooh...up and moving.  Which is not what I'm doing right now by schmoozing in my pajamas writing a really long blog post on the computer after checking my email and reading blogs...

So that is my epic adventure of the very early morning ear monster that ripped apart my eardrum but really wasn't there at all.

Rainy Day with One Assignment

Today is rainy, dreary, and gray.  I'm posting this early because I only have one thing to do today--finishing my history project.  This is because my poor little sister is not feeling good.

Scratch that.  My little sister is feeling terrible.  She's not exactly in any place where she can do anything but watch TV and lay on the couch eating Rice Krispies.

That would explain why I'm on the computer at 11 am not doing schoolwork, and why I'm not going to be doing anything exceptional today, that I will be able to post about.  Which is why I'm posting about this.  Now I'm confusing myself!  Ahh!

Forgetting about that, I'm going to try again to get my history project done and help my little sis feel better.

Technical Difficulties

If you tried to watch the video I posted and was told that it was "unavailable to watch", I'm really sorry and am working on getting it up again.  I took it down for now and will re-post it as soon as possible!  Thanks!

Happy Homeschooling!

PS: I am going to do another post really soon--probably next week--so stay tuned!!
